DC Relays (IC2820)

The IC2820A100, IC2820A101 and IC2820A200 General Purpose Relays are used for under-voltage protection, plugging and similar applications. Relays are available with either shunt or series coils and can be mounted on either steel or insulating panels.

Time-Delay units (IC2820A100A and IC2820A100B) are offered for motor acceleration, sequence interlocking and other applications requiring delayed opening or closing of control circuits.

The IC2820E500 Instantaneous Overload Relay is used in the protection of DC Motors and driven machines against suddenly applied high overloads. An instantaneous overload relay is normally used on cranes, hoists and other applications in which heavy overloads are encountered.

IC2820D300 Field-loss Relay's are used to protect DC shunt or compound-wound motors against the loss of field excitation. The coil of the relay is connected in series with the motor field and when excitation is lost the relay drops out and opens the motor line contactor.

GE's AC Low-Voltage Relays are the IC2820A102, which provides Ground Fault Protection by interrupting control power when ground current is detected. The IC2820A102A Differential Relay detects any difference in current going in and out of each phase of a wye-connected motor. The current difference will trip the relay and shut down the motor by opening the motor line contactor.

IC2820C100 and IC2820C100B Field Application Relays work in conjunction to provide time-delay for closing the field contactor when the proper DC voltage is available to pull the machine into step.

IC9033 Power Resistors

IC9033 GE Resistors are wire or ribbon-wound units for used on any AC or DC power or control circuit. They are corrosion resistant, and can withstand considerable shock without damage making them suitable for mounting on traveling cranes, portable equipment and other movable structures subject to vibration.

IC9033 resistors are wire- or ribbon-wound units which can be built in the relatively high ohmic ratings required for low horsepower motors as well as high-capacity ratings required for larger motors. They are ideal for use in voltage dropping or synchronous motor field discharge applications.

Application

Use IC9033 resistors on any ac or dc power or control circuit. The resistors are corrosion-resistant and will withstand considerable shock without damage. They can be mounted on traveling cranes, portable equipment and other structures subject to vibration.

Resistance Tolerance

Listed IC9033 resistors are manufactured to a resistance tolerance of plus or minus 10 percent.

Coefficient of Resistivity

For most applications the coefficient of resistivity has a negligible effect upon selection of a resistor and the factor can be ignored.

Basis of Rating

Resistors are rated in accordance with NEMA and IEEE standards. Wattage ratings are based upon operation in free air at altitudes 6000 feet and below and at a temperature rise not to exceed 375 C or 675 F in a 40 C ambient.

IC9141 Punched Steel Grid Resistors

IC9141 punched-grid resistors consist of stainless-steel grids mounted in boxes suitable for stacking. Resistors are corrosion resistant and non-breakable. They can be installed either indoor, or with an outdoor enclosure in outdoor locations. They are designed to withstand shock and vibration of cranes and similar machinery.

GE punched-grid resistors allow for expansion of the resistor element by uniquely slotting the end frame to allow the resistor element to expand. These punched grid resistors are for use in production of metal and minerals, and for transportation service. Basis of Rating Current and temperature-rise ratings based on operation of a single box located 6 inches above floor. Resistance increase at 375 C rise is approximately 6%.
