The Remote
Racking System is for GE 5 kV and 15 kV Metal-Clad /
Magneblast vertical lift switchgear. The Remote Racking System
consists of a portable motor, which connects through the
door-mounted receptacle to a remote control unit via a 30-ft.
cable. The motor is latched with the positive interlock safety
system to set the elevation mechanism in the operation
mode.
Operator Safety:
Operator controls raising and lowering of
circuit breaker from remote position
Breaker cubicle door is closed during racking
process
Operator controls charge, close and open
{optional features} functions from remote
position.
Existing GE safety interlocks remain in
place
This system is engineered to comply with the
new NFPA and OSHA recommendations for electric arc
flash, arc flash energy, safe working distance in the
arc flash zone and personal protective
equipment.
Easy Equipment
Modification:
New motor and one-time switchgear
modification
For each switchgear line-up, one remote control
unit and one portable motor (sold as a kit) are
recommended. One kit is required for the site.
For each breaker unit to be modified, order one
receptacle kit. Each receptacle kit consists of a
terminal block, receptacle and wire harness, and
standard schematic and connection diagrams.
