DC Contactors (DS303 and IC2800)The DS303 Heavy-Duty Contactor by GE is used in industrial applications such as steel mills, cranes, material handling, rapid transit, as well as general-duty machine tool, textile machinery and similar applications. They feature an insulated steel base, non-asbestos arc chutes, blowout coils and optional interlocks. NEMA sizes 1-5 are available in various normally open and normally closed pole combinations. Sizes 6-10 are available in the normally open pole configuration only. IC2800 line of General Duty and Mill Duty Contactors are used for machine-tool control, textile machinery and similar applications. PSC offers 25 and 50 amp normally open contactors, which are to be used where exact replacement of the original obsolete contactor is required. IC2800B310 Special Purpose Contactors are used where time-delay opening of power circuits, such as DC Motor or Resistor loads are required. They are normally open, single-pole contactors constructed with copper jacketed coils, which provide time delay on dropout. The IC2800A501, IC2800Y109 and IC2800Y110 are normally closed units, unlike the B310 are not designed to interrupt power, but used to short-out resistance steps in starting DC Motors. IC2812B107 and IC2812B207 Motor Field Contactors These extremely fast-acting contactors are designed specifically for synchronous-motor applications. The normally open and closed poles have the correct amount of overlap to assure against the build-up of high-induced voltages in the motor field when excitation is removed. They are of the heavy-duty, clapper-type design for industrial use. The contactors have proved in the field that they give long life under all conditions of operation and service. The correct amount of wipe keeps the contact tips clean which provides positive electrical contact when the poles are closed. Blowout coils are connected to each pole to quickly extinguish the arc within the arc chute. Arc chutes are non-asbestos and can easily be removed to inspect contact tips IC2812B307, IC2812B407, and IC2812B507 Exciter/Generator Field Controllers are for the application and removal of DC power from an exciter or generator field circuit. The controller consists of two Normally Open (NO) power circuits and one Normally Closed (NC) power circuit and associated control and protective relaying. The 2 NO contacts apply dc power to the machine field. The NC contact inserts a resistor in the field circuit to discharge the energy when the field power circuit is opened. The contacts are arranged in a make-before break configuration. The contactor is mechanically latched when closed, and can be electrically or mechanically tripped.
